Thousands attend funerals of Pinglena martyrs

Srinagar, February 19, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people, today, participated in the funeral prayers of the youth martyred by Indian troops during a cordon and search operation in Pinglena area of Pulwama district. The troops killed Hilal Ahmad Naiko and Mushtaq Ahmad Butt along with two other youth during the operation, which was backed by Indian army’s gunship helicopters, yesterday.

Over a dozen houses were destroyed in the shelling by the troops. As the bodies of the martyrs were brought to their hometown, Pinglena, thousands of mourners converged in the village and participated in their last rites. Multiple rounds of funerals were held, while the martyrs were buried amid pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans.

Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed in Pulwama and adjoining areas against the killings. All business establishments, shops and private institutions were closed while public transport was off the roads. The troops launched a cordon and search operation in Tral area of the district, today.

Scores of employees under the banner of Employees Joint Consultative Committee staged a protest at Press Colony in Srinagar against the harassment of the Kashmiris in Jammu and inside India. Jammu and Kashmir Clerical Staff Association also held a protest demonstration in Srinagar to condemn the assault on the Muslim employees in Jammu by Hindu mobs.

Over hundred traders from the Kashmir Valley were forced to close their shops and leave the Indian states. Media reports said that seven Kashmiri Shawl vendors were abducted by people in plainclothes in New Delhi and were shifted to some unknown location. As many as 300 Kashmiri students studying inside India have returned home after facing attacks and threats from Hindu goons.

On the other hand, the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik after a meeting in Srinagar, today, said that Indian brutalities were forcing the Kashmiri youth to the armed struggle. They, however, maintained that India would never succeed in suppressing the freedom struggle through its military might.

The leaders announced to observe complete strike in the occupied territory whenever the petitions challenging the hereditary state subject law would come up for hearing before the Indian Supreme Court. A team of the High Court Bar Association of the occupied territory has left for New Delhi to defend Article 35A and Article 370 in the Indian Supreme Court, which will likely to hear the petitions on Wednesday and Thursday.
