KARACHI:A high level meeting on street crimes and drug prevention in the city was held at Karachi Police Office on Wednesday.
According to Karachi Police Spokesperson, the meeting was chaired by Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi. The district Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) briefed the meeting on the steps being taken to curb street crime in the city.
All SP Investigations briefed on the steps being taken to nab the fugitives, while the instructions were issued for full action against the fugitives with effective strategies.
The meeting directed the District SSPs to take effective action against professional and habitual offenders to curb street crimes and ensure prompt installation of CCTV cameras by concerned administrators in sensitive public places including other places where CCTV cameras are not installed.
A briefing was given on the deployment of police on the entrances and exit ways of the city. During the meeting, instructions were issued for serious steps to change the culture of the police station. The meeting reviewed the positive results of the steps taken to ensure prompt registration of cases in the police stations. The District SSPs present in the meeting were informed of the felony trespass, while orders were also issued for registration of the cases. The meeting also instructed implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the provincial government to combat outbreak of coronavirus.
It also directed to set up a special Corona Desk at the Police Hospital Garden in this regard. The department’s welfare department is fully operational to completely monitor the corona-affected police officers and personnel.
The meeting was told that Karachi Police is taking all possible steps to curb other crimes including drug prevention, serving the people with limited resources is its top priority. The meeting was attended by DIG Admin Amin Yousafzai, DIG Crime Investigation Agency Arif Hanif, DIG South Javed Akbar Riaz, DIG West Asim Qaimkhani, all District SSPs, SSP Anti Violent Crime Cell, SSP Anti. Vehicle Lifting Cell and all SP Investigations also attended the meeting.
