Traders warn of protests against Sharafuddin’s arrest

QUETTA: Abdul Raheem Kakar, President, Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajiran Balochistan and Malik Muhammad Umer, Executive Member, Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajiran Musakhail have strongly condemned lodging of an FIR against Sharafuddin, President, Markazai Anjuman-e-Tajiran, Musakhail.

In a statement on Tuesday, they said that duty of police were to maintain law and order situation, but Additional SHO, Musakhail and Hawaldar, Police Station Musakhail were busy receiving bribes and extortions. They said that when Sharafuddi opposed bribe and extortion from the people of Musakhail, Musakhail police lodged the FIR against him.

They called on Inspector General of police, Balochistan and District Police Officer, Musakhail to suspend the services of Additional SHO, Musakhail and Hawaldar, Police Station Musakhail and initiate disciplinary proceedings against them.

They demanded of the authorities to post an honest Station House Officer in Police Station Musakhail. They said if their demands were not entertained, Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajiran Balochistan would stage protest demonstrations outside Quetta Press Club which would be followed by holding a press conference for announcing future course of action.

Meanwhile, National Students Federation demanded of the authorities to conduct election of student unions forthwith. This demand and similar other demands were made in a protest demonstration staged outside Quetta Press Club under the aegis of National Students Federation here on Tuesday.

Addressing the protest demonstration, Faheem Baloch, Organizer, National Student Federation said that NSF had decided to observe February 9 as black day, because, he added, that former military dictator General Zia-ul-Haq had imposed a ban on students union to prolong his dictatorship.

He said that National Students Federation was struggling to restore student unions in the country. They demanded of the authorities to provide standard education in the educational institutions of the country, establish more educational institutions and impose a ban on private educational institutions.
