Srinagar, July 04, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed in Pulwama against the four-hour long nocturnal operation carried out by the Indian troops and police personnel in Rohmoo area of the district. The terrified residents told the media that the troops barged into their houses and started thrashing whatever came their way adding that even women and children were not spared.
The soldiers arrested, at least, seven innocent youth besides smashing windowpanes and damaging the parked vehicles. Students of Muslim Educational Institute Pampore hit the streets against the killing of classmate, Faizan Ahmad, during firing by Indian troops on protesters at Chatapora in Pulwama on Friday.
Delegations of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement and Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League led by Zafar Akbar Butt and Muhammad Rafiq Ganai visited the residence of a fake encounter victim, Mudassir Ahmad Butt at Barzulla in Srinagar and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Dar, in a statement said that the Indian troops had made the lives of the people in Hajin, Pulwama, Kulgam and other areas of the Kashmir Valley a hell. The students of the Central University of Kashmir brushed aside the protocol for Indian national anthem by refusing to stand up during the first convocation of the university, today. The event kicked off by playing the national anthem of India, but the students did not stand up.
Meanwhile, the demand for initiation of an independent commission to investigate the perpetration of gross human rights violations by the Indian forces in Indian occupied Kashmir was raised at a roundtable in Geneva. The panelists included Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo, Professor Alfred De Zayas, Frank Schwalba-Hoth, Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl, Ambassador Ronald Barnes and Leon Kaualhao Siu.
