Srinagar, January 09, 2018 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred three more Kashmiri youth in Islamabad district, today. The troops killed the youth during a violent military operation at Larnoo in Kokernag area of the district. Two of the martyred youth have been identified as 18-year-old Muhammad Farhan Wani and Owais Ahmad. Another youth, Ashraf Khan, was critically injured during the operation. An Indian army officer claimed that the youth were killed during an encounter with the troops. Indian army is using gunship helicopters in the ongoing operation.
The killings triggered complete shutdown in Kokernag and other areas of Islamabad district. The roads wore a deserted look due to the spontaneous strike. Massive clashes were reported between protesters and Indian troops in Akingam, Saagam, Kokernag, Vailoo and Larnoo areas of the district. The authorities suspended Internet mobile services in South Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat forum in their separate statements said that India was trying to resolve the political dispute over Jammu and Kashmir though blatant use of military force. They urged New Delhi to accept the ground realities in Jammu and Kashmir, as its militaristic approach has failed to force the Kashmiris into submission over the past seven decades. Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen Chairperson, Zamruda Habib, in her statement expressed her grief and anguish over the surge in killings in the territory.
The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Personal Law Board during its executive council meeting in Srinagar opposed the extension of the Indian law pertaining to triple-talaq to the occupied territory. The meeting was chaired by Grand Mufti of Kashmir, Mufti Bashirud Din Ahmad. All the Board members pledged to oppose any law aimed at interfering in religious matters of Muslims and diluting the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Member of the so-called Kashmir Assembly, Engineer Abdur Rasheed, was marshalled out from the House for raising the arrest of Bandipora cricketers by Indian police. The police had recently arrested four Kashmiri cricketers for singing Pakistan’s national anthem before the start of a match in the district.
On the other hand, an Indian Air Force soldier committed suicide by hanging himself with the ceiling fan of his room at Air Force Station in Udhampur. This incident raised the number of such deaths amongst the Indian soldiers and police personnel in the occupied territory to 395 since January 2007.
