Nur Ahmed Shahwani, President of the Truck Union Balochistan, has announced that coal loading has resume today.
During a press conference with Duki Truck Union President Raza Muhammad today, Shahwani revealed that the Inspector General of Frontier Corps Balochistan had assured security for the coal-loaded trucks. With this assurance, coal supply to various areas of the province had begun.
Balochistan, a resource-rich province in Pakistan, is known for its vast coal reserves, which are a critical part of the regional and national economy. However, transporting coal has often faced challenges due to security concerns, particularly in districts like Duki, which is a significant hub for coal mining activities.
Truck unions and transporters have frequently raised concerns about the safety of coal-laden trucks, which have been targeted by criminal groups and insurgents. These issues have disrupted coal supply chains, impacting businesses and livelihoods in the region.
To address these challenges, government and law enforcement agencies, such as the Frontier Corps (FC), periodically engage with transporters and unions to provide security assurances.
