TWI condemns further restrictions on Eid-ul-Adha

Srinagar, August 02, 2020 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami (TWI), a constituent of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), has strongly condemned the intensified restrictions imposed by the Indian authorities on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha to prevent Kashmiri Muslims from offering Eid prayers.

The Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the authorities had deployed a large number of Indian army and police personnel in Srinagar and all other major towns on the day of Eid and closed the roads with barbed wires. He said that Indian authorities had completely deprived Kashmiris of their basic rights including religious rights.

He said that although India had been obstructing Kashmiris in performing their religious duties for the last 30 years but now it has intensified this vicious cycle under the guise of coronavirus. He said that all the major mosques, shrines and imambargahs in the area including the Srinagar Jamia Masjid had been closed for the last several months and their minarets had been deprived of the sound of Allah-o- Akbar.

The spokesman said that millions of Indian troops were currently deployed in the length and breadth of the occupied valley to suppress the Kashmiris’ voice for freedom. He said that Indian oppression against innocent Kashmiris had reached its peak which was a blot on the face of the so-called Indian democracy. He called upon the international community to break its criminal silence and take notice of the grave human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.
