Srinagar, March 03, 2020 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian authorities filed a charge-sheet against two persons, including an Imam on the charge of making a pro-freedom speech at the funeral of martyred lecturer, Dr Mohammad Rafi Butt, in May of 2018.
Indian police said it presented a charge-sheet against the two identified as Muhammad Rafiq Shah, and Bashir Ahmad Lone for delivering a speech at Chunduna Ganderbal during the funeral of Dr Mohammad Rafi Butt and were booked under the draconian law, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. Martyr Rafi Butt taught at Kashmir University’s Sociology department.
The police on Monday presented the charge-sheet against the duo before the court while the conclusion of investigation was forwarded to the Indian authorities for obtaining sanction to launch prosecution, which has been granted. They both are members of Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir.
