The Humak police station team on Sunday claimed to have apprehended a duo involved in a series of robberies and street crimes. The suspects, identified as Muhammad Israr and Subhan Iqbal, were caught with stolen cash, expensive mobile devices, and other valuables.
The arrest is part of a city-wide operation to curb criminal activities, initiated under the orders of IGP Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. The police recovered two pistols, several high-end mobile phones, and a laptop, collectively valued at approximately Rs. 1.2 million. These items are believed to have been used in numerous incidents targeting unsuspecting pedestrians and local shopkeepers.
The operations head, SSP Muhammad Shoaib Khan, stated the commitment of the Islamabad Police to safeguarding the citizens and their properties. He highlighted that the quick response and effective action against such criminal elements are imperative to maintaining public peace and safety.
The suspects have reportedly admitted to their involvement in various criminal activities during the preliminary investigations. Multiple FIRs had been previously registered against them. With these arrests, the police are hopeful of a significant reduction in street crimes in the capital.
SSP Khan also encouraged the public to play their role by reporting any suspicious activities. He reminded that the community could contact the local police stations or use the emergency helpline, Pucar-15, to alert authorities.
Further investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the duo’s criminal activities and to recover more stolen items. The police are also attempting to identify other potential victims of these crimes to return the recovered valuables.
