UN urged to regard Kashmiris’ aspirations

Geneva, June 29, 2018 (PPI-OT): Speakers including Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo and advocate Ayoub Rathor have urged the UN to regard the aspirations of Kashmiri people and ascertain their political destiny through right to self-determination. Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo and advocate Ayoub Rathor addressing the UN Road Conference held in Geneva in a joint voice said it is duty of the international community and UN to implement the resolutions passed in highest institution of the world.

The participants insisted the world body to come to the rescue of subjugated people of occupied Kashmir and help people to restore their dignity and political destiny. They said it is the basic duty of world’s highest body to regard people’s aspirations and vowed to carry mission of Kashmiri people to all corners of world.

They added people of Kashmir are demanding their genuine right and the UN promised, accepted and passed 18 resolutions. The Conference was conferred by the International Council for Human Rights and the South Asia Center. The conference was held at the 38th Summit of the UN Human Rights Council, which discussed the UN’s latest Kashmir report.

The speakers thanked the High Commissioner for Human Rights and said the report on human rights violations in occupied Kashmir is eye-opener for member countries and need their immediate cognizance. The participants demanded an international investigative commission into the rising human rights abuses in occupied Kashmir.

They said India is oppressing Kashmiris and while referring to brutal rape and murder of Asifa, she added it illustrates the ugly face of Indian occupation in Kashmir. They said, “As long as the United Nations did not implement its resolutions, we will continue our struggle saying, we assure the people of occupied Kashmir that we are all with our full moral support with oppressed people.”
