UNHCHR warns India over harassment of Muslims

Geneva, March 07, 2019 (PPI-OT): The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR), Michelle Bachelet, has warned India over divisive policies and harassment of Muslims in the country. Michelle Bachelet in her annual report to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva said that divisive policies of India can undermine economic growth. She said that narrow political agendas were marginalising vulnerable people in an already unequal society in India.

“We are receiving reports that indicate increasing harassment and targeting of minorities particularly Muslims and people from historically disadvantaged and marginalised groups, such as Dalits and Adivasis,” Bachelet said.
