The pressing need for the swift rehabilitation of families devastated by recent floods in Gilgit-Baltistan took center stage during a high-level meeting between Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Governor Gilgit-Baltistan, Syed Mehdi Shah, at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday.
The discussion between the two dignitaries reviewed the ongoing relief and reconstruction activities following severe rains that caused widespread damage across the region.
Acting President Gilani expressed deep concern over the substantial losses suffered by the people. He emphasized the necessity for coordinated efforts between federal and regional government institutions to ensure the early resettlement of the affected families.
During the talks, Governor Mehdi Shah briefed the Acting President on the measures being undertaken by the local administration. He detailed the initiatives to provide assistance to displaced persons and to restore essential services in the flood-stricken areas.
The governor also conveyed his appreciation for the Acting President’s keen interest and consistent support for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Other matters, including the prevailing political situation, law and order, and party affairs, were also part of the comprehensive discussion.
