WAPDA Hydro Union protests against privatization of PDCs

LARKANA: The members of WAPDA Hydro Electric Union took out a rally and held a protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh Thursday against proposed privatization of Power Distribution Companies (PDCs).

They burnt tyres and staged a sit-in on the main roundabout at Jinnah Bagh blocking the major crossing due to which residents faced severe hardships. The employees of Sepco came from Kambar, Warah, Dokri, Nasirabad, Shahdadkot, Miro Khan and other areas and participated in the protest leaving behind their government duties.

While addressing the participants, their leaders including Nisar Shaikh, Abdullah Soomro, Khalid Chandio, Nizam Bughio and others said that the federal government intends to increase price-hike and unemployment by privatizing PDCs and other national institutions but we will resist such moves, they declared.

They said that the government wants children of poor people to die of hunger as it has done nothing yet to control ever increasing prices of essential commodities across the country which has already broken the back of the poverty-ridden masses. They demanded to withdraw the privatization of PDCs and other organizations or else, they added, we will breakdown supply of electricity across the country for which only the government will be responsible.
