Water supply from more than 400 water schemes to the citizens of Quetta remained suspended on Tuesday owing to the strike of tubewell operators and wall men serving in Water and Sanitation Authority-WASA, Quetta.

According to a report, strike of WASA’s employees has been continuing for the last four days on the call of WASA Employees Union, demanding 25 percent adhoc allowance and other perks and privileges due to which pure drinking water could not be supplied to the citizens of Quetta from some 400 tubewells. Citizens of the provincial capital have been compelled to purchase water from the tankers.

The strike announced by the WASA Employees Union is the blatant violation of judgment passed by Balochistan High Court whereby government employees have been banned from observing strike.
