Abdul Hakeem Qaid, President of Pasban Democratic Party Karachi, has expressed deep concern over the continuous delays in the completion of the Red Line Bus Project on University Road. As a pretext for this project, pedestrian bridges have been removed, adversely affecting the safety and convenience of the local population, including the elderly, women, and children.

University Road, a major artery of the city that connects ten universities and many schools, has currently become a nightmare for commuters. Every day, millions of people travel in traffic jams, poor road conditions, and the harsh weather conditions of the city, hoping for a resolution to the increasingly worsening situation. According to the Pasban Democratic Party, the absence of effective traffic management has further exacerbated the situation, where the police’s intermittent presence is mostly focused on personal benefits rather than facilitating traffic flow.

The ongoing project, which apparently aims to improve infrastructure, has in reality become a source of difficulties. The local government, which is led by the People’s Party, is accused not only of mismanagement but also of being involved in corruption related to these development activities. Pasban emphasized that the iron bridges, which aided thousands of people daily, are allegedly being sold by corrupt officials.

Therefore, the issue should be resolved and these bridges should be reinstalled.
