Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has stated that women are playing an effective role in all walks of life and have stood shoulder to shoulder with men in the Pakistan Movement and the country’s development. He highlighted Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Begum Rana Liaquat Ali Khan, and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto as examples of struggle, determination, and courage.

According to a KMC statement on the eve of International Women’s Day issued today, The Karaci mayor emphasized that women are the true architects of the nation. He stressed the need to educate and empower women to ensure the proper upbringing of future generations, as this would lay the foundation for a stronger nation.

He further noted that women, in the roles of mothers, daughters, sisters, and wives, actively contribute to society alongside men. He also acknowledged the significant presence of women in the KMC Council, where they are making their voices heard in legislative matters for Karachi’s development.

Mr Wahab reiterated that the Pakistan People’s Party has always prioritized women’s rights and welfare. He recalled that Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, as Pakistan’s first female Prime Minister, took several initiatives for women’s progress, including the Benazir Income Support Program, which remains a key tool for their economic empowerment.

He stated that International Women’s Day serves as an opportunity to integrate women as active members of society and provide them with complete freedom to showcase their talents. Their participation, he added, would contribute to Pakistan’s progress, welfare, and security.

Extending his congratulations to all women on International Women’s Day, the Karachi mayor expressed hope that they would continue to train the next generation in a manner that leads Pakistan toward development, as the nation’s future rests in their hands.
