A training program focused on legislation and advocacy for women began Thursday at the Balochistan Provincial Assembly in Quetta, a move designed to bolster transparent and responsible governance. The session, organized jointly by the Women Parliamentary Caucus and UN Women, was led by Deputy Speaker Ghazala Gola.

Secretary of the Balochistan Assembly, Tahir Shah Kakar, provided a comprehensive overview of the provincial legislative procedures. He explained the Assembly”s functions, the lawmaking process, and the importance of committees, inquiries, and proposals in maintaining accountability and effective governance.

The workshop then shifted to an interactive format, featuring a question-and-answer segment and suggestions for support from non-governmental organizations. Attendees learned about important gender-related legislation and policy frameworks. They also learned practical methods for tracking bills and monitoring policies to enhance public involvement in lawmaking.

Education Minister Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, in her closing remarks, stressed the crucial contribution of women in lawmaking and administration. She voiced a firm dedication to empowering the Women Parliamentary Caucus and recommended the continuation of similar educational initiatives. ‘Our women are diligently contributing,” she declared, ” they simply require acknowledgment and recognition.”
