Women’s Day celebrations an acknowledgement of their important role: Marriyum

Islamabad, March 08, 2018 (PPI-OT): Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb says the women day celebrations across the country are an acknowledgement of women’s sacrifices and their important role in different strata of life. She was addressing a ceremony held in Islamabad in connection with International Women Day being celebrated today. The Minister of state said Pakistani women from Fatima Jinnah to Begum Kalsoom Nawaz have remained an epitome of courage and determination throughout the history.

She said Benazir Bhutto’s active struggle for democracy internationally recognized. Marriyum Aurangzeb stressed the need for implementation of policies and legislation done for women rights. later, First Lady Begum Mahmooda Mamnoon Hussain says the government has taken important measures for protection of rights of women. Addressing a ceremony held in Islamabad in connection with international women day, she said the government wants to empower the women through safeguarding their rights and dignity.

Begum Mahmooda Mamnoon Hussain said Islam gives maximum rights to women. The Embassy of Pakistan in Washington D.C. hosted a special event to mark International Women’s Day through showcasing the achievements of the women of Pakistan as well as women of Pakistani origin in the United States. In her remarks on the occasion, the Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua highlighted the growing contribution of Pakistani women towards national development and progress.
