A delegation of participants from the 2nd Senior Management Course (SMC) of the Provincial Civil Services visited the Central Police Office (CPO) Karachi today.

The delegation, comprising 27 officers in grade 19 undergoing training, was led by DG Training, SGA and CD, Esa Mehmood. The officers had an interaction with IG Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, and other senior police officials.

DIG Headquarters Sindh, who welcomed the delegation, provided a detailed briefing on the law and order situation in the province, as well as the various units of Sindh Police engaged in combating crime. A number of senior police officers, including those from the departments of ZT and T, Establishment, IT, Training, and Headquarters, were present during the meeting. The delegation members appreciated the performance of Sindh Police and raised several pertinent questions.

IG Sindh, during the briefing, said that the Sindh government had increased the police budget by 19 percent, a move that has significantly supported the force. He further informed that the provincial government had allocated funds for police stations this year, empowering them with greater autonomy. ‘The decision by the Sindh government to grant police stations their own budget is commendable,’ said Memon.

Moreover, the IG announced that the women’s quota in Sindh Police had been raised from 5 percent to 15 percent, a move that aimed to not only enhance policing but also to highlight the positive contributions of police in society. Despite facing challenges in recruiting women from upper Sindh, Memon noted that the inclusion of women in the force was a step in the right direction.

Addressing issues in the Katcha (riverine) areas, Memon shared that incidents of abductions had largely been controlled, though criminals were still attempting to use honey traps to lure individuals for abductions and ransom demands. ‘This year, Sindh Police successfully saved over 900 citizens from such traps,’ Memon said. The police have established forward posts in the Katcha areas, and several notorious criminals had been either killed or injured in recent operations.

While some elements, including criminals in Katcha, attempt to project a negative image of law and order through social media, Memon expressed confidence that the ongoing operations would soon cleanse the region of criminal elements. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by police officers and personnel, several of whom have been martyred during these operations.

Furthermore, the IG announced that the health insurance system for Sindh Police employees was now fully operational, offering significant benefits to the force. He extended gratitude to the Sindh government for its continued support towards the welfare of the police.

Later, the delegation visited the CPO Command and Control Center to observe the operations and monitoring systems in place for maintaining city security
