Work on Karachi Development Package in progress: Amin

Islamabad, January 17, 2021 (PPI-OT): Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Amin Ul Haque has said that work on the Karachi Development Package of 1000 billion rupees is in progress with the collective efforts of the federal and provincial governments. He was briefing the news men after the meeting of Karachi Coordination Committee along with Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in Karachi.

The Minister said both the federal and the provincial governments are performing for the development of Karachi and the entire country. Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Planning Development Asad Umar said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf -led government has completed a number of projects including five bridges in Karachi after coming to power.

He said under the Supreme Court’s orders, work on the drainage system is also on the fast-track in coordination with stakeholders. He said Frontier Works Organization and National Disaster and Management Authority are also involved in the drainage project.

Replying to a question regarding the Islands of Sindh, Asad Umar said the federal and provincial governments have their own viewpoint on the issue. Answering another question about census in Karachi, Asad Umar said a committee has been formed and it would give its recommendations on the matter after detailed discussions.

On the occasion, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said the provincial and the federal governments have started various projects in Karachi including remodelling of storm-water drains, water drainage and transport sectors.
