Led by the All Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Workers Union (CBA) and guided by Nisar Sheikh, hundreds of workers on Tuesday took to the streets in protest against the privatization of power companies and the outsourcing of 11 kV feeders . The workers, wearing black armbands, marched from the SE Office to the Royal Chowk Press Club, where they held a sit-in.

During the rally, the workers carried flags and chanted slogans against privatization. Speaking to the media, Nisar Sheikh, Abdullah Soomro, Ali Muhammad Jatoi, Mahmood Pathan, Hadi Bakhsh Jatoi, Riaz Sangi, Riaz Bhatti, Khurram Memon, Waseem Jatoi, Ghulam Mustafa Chandio, Naheed Jatoi, and others stated that the government, at the behest of the IMF, is privatizing GEPCO, LESCO, and ISCO, which will result in the unemployment of the companies’ employees.

They further stated that there is a shortage of employees in all companies, including SEPCO, and one worker is doing the work of five workers, while their benefits have also been taken away. This is all preparation for terminating employees from their jobs, which should be stopped immediately, or the protest will continue.
