World doing nothing for oppressed Kashmiris, APHC-AJK leaders

Muzaffarabad, October 22, 2019 (PPI-OT): For the past 70 years, we have traditionally been celebrating October 27 as Black Day because it was the same day in 1947 when India landed its troops on the soil of Jammu and Kashmir as a usurper force. This was stated by APHC-AJK Convener Syed Abdullah Gilani along with other Hurriyat leaders Syed Aijaz Ahmad Shah, Ishtiaq Hameed, Abdul Majeed Mir, Pervez Ahmad Shah, Raja Khadim Hussain and Zahid Safi during a press conference in Muzaffarabad.

“This year, as we are going to celebrate the day, its darkness has grown even greater because India on August 5 viciously resorted to another fierce aggression and blatant attempt to give legal and constitutional justification to its illegal occupation of Kashmir,” the leaders said. They maintained that neither they accepted India’s illegal occupation 71 years ago, nor would they compromise their position after the recent onslaught by India.

Addressing the crowded press conference, they said that they were grateful to Pakistan for the steps taken by the country, especially the way Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan fought the Kashmiris’ case before the world community and the masses raised their voice in favour of Kashmiri people since the August 5 illegal action by India.

“However, we all know that all these efforts did not have a significant impact on ground situation in Kashmir. The morale of Kashmiri people was certainly boosted, yet there was neither decrease in Indian atrocities, nor did any of India’s nefarious intentions and plans regarding Kashmir could be thwarted,” the leaders said.

The leaders asked the Pakistani government to allow the Kashmiri people to cross the Line of Control to help their brothers in occupied Kashmir as the international community was doing nothing in this regard. Tens of thousands of youths across the bloody line stand ready to give every sacrifice for freedom, they added.

“We should not be deprived of our right to carry forward our struggles on our own. We want to give a clear message to the entire world that we, the Kashmiris, are fully committed to take our struggle to its destination as we are united to achieve our fundamental right,” they concluded.
