Yaum-e-Istehsal across LOC tomorrow

Srinagar, August 04, 2020 (PPI-OT): Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control, in Pakistan and the world over will mark August 5, tomorrow, as Yaum-e-Istehsal, to denounce illegal, immoral and unconstitutional step, which New Delhi took on this day in 2019 to strip Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir of its special status.

The people of Kashmir would observe complete shutdown on the day, call for which has been given by the veteran Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani and supported by almost all pro-freedom leaders and organizations. Kashmiris living abroad would assemble outside Indian embassies in large number in all major capitals of the world on the day and forcefully record their protest against the Indian actions. Anthems of freedom would be played in the mosques of the territory.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference in a statement in Srinagar said that by observing a total strike, tomorrow, the people of Kashmir would prove to the world that they would not accept the forcible occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. The Hurriyat forum headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq pointed out that the New Delhi’s move to scrap Jammu and Kashmir’s special status was in violation of the internationally-acknowledged disputed status of the territory.

Other Hurriyat leaders and organizations including Bilal Ahmad Siddiqui, Hilal Ahmad War, Umar Aadil Dar, Democratic Freedom Party, National Front, Muslim League, Anjuman Sharie Shian, Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League, Employees Movement and Jammu and Kashmir Students Youth Forum in their separate statements appealed to the Kashmiri people to strictly adhere to the Siege Day programmes to convey a message to the international community that they reject New Delhi’s plan to launch demographic apartheid in Kashmir.

An analytical report released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service on the eve of completion of one year to the military siege in Kashmir said, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir presents a look of a big jail even a year after India took the ghastly measure of abrogation of Article 370. It maintained that New Delhi introduced several federal laws and new domicile rules to Jammu and Kashmir. The report said it is widely believed that India has granted domicile status to thousands of non-Kashmiri Hindus including some Indian Air Force officers. It also mentioned India’s new construction policy aimed at snatching away land and properties of Kashmiri people for construction of colonies for non-Kashmiri Hindu.

Meanwhile, the authorities have further intensified curfew and other restrictions in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir to prevent anti-India protests and other pro-freedom programmes, tomorrow. All main roads have been blocked with barbed wires while markets closed in length and breadth of the territory. Announcements are being made on loudspeakers wherein people are asked to stay indoors.

Indian authorities booked a Kashmiri journalist, Qazi Shibli, under a new black law and shifted him to Srinagar Central Jail, today. The New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists in a statement demanded immediate release of the Kashmiri journalist.
