Youth injured in troops’ firing in Shopian succumbs

Srinagar, January 31, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a youth injured in the firing of Indian troops on protesters at Ganowpora in Shopian succumbed to his injuries after battling for his life for four days at a hospital in Srinagar, today, taking the death toll in the area to three.

Two youth, Javaid Ahmed Butt (20) and Suhail Javaid Lone (24) were killed and several others were injured after the troops opened indiscriminate fire on peaceful protesters in Ganowpora area of Shopian on Saturday (January 27). One of the critically injured Rayees Ahmed Ganai (19) was shifted to Intensive Care Unit of Soura Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar where he succumbed to his injuries this morning.

With the succumbing of Rayees Ganai the death toll in the Shopian firing incident has risen to three. A doctor at the hospital told media men that brain of Rayees Ahmed Ganai was seriously damaged as he was hit by bullet on his head.

Meanwhile, the Dukhtaran-e-Millat General Secretary, Nahida Nasreen, in a statement in Srinagar rejected the probe ordered by the puppet administration into civilian killings in Shopian. “We want to make it absolutely clear that this is just another drama of these so-called rulers to befool the people and gain their sympathy.”
