SEHWAN SHARIF: Sehwan Sharif police tortured a youth to death after arresting him on the charge of motorcycle theft, said angry mob blocking Indus Highway here on Monday.

 

A 25-year-old youth, Rashid Ali Lashari, a resident of Manahion, who was arrested from Sehwan Sharif town on charge of stealing a bike, lost life due to alleged police torture on him in Sehwan Sharif constituency of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, protesters told media.

 

The heirs, supporters and relatives of the victim held a protest demonstration and sit-in on Indus Highway for seven hours, jaming traffic. SSP Jamshoro, Javed Baloch, took notice of the issue and suspended SHO Zulfiqar Ali Odhano.

 

Speaking on the occasion, the protesters said that Rashid was arrested by SHO Sehwan, Zulfiqar Ali Odhano, on the charge of a motorcycle theft and later police brutally tortured the youth following which he died.

 

DSP Sehwan Dildar Soomro and CIA In-charge Jamshoro Sarwar talked to the protesters and assured them justice following which they ended the protest. A case has been also registered against the cops at Sehwan police station.
