ISLAMABAD:Zahid Akram Durrani of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) on Thursday took oath as Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.

Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf administered oath to him here at parliament house in Islamabad. Earlier, Zahid Akram Durrani was elected unopposed as Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.

Zahid Akram Durrani, who is the son of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s former Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani was elected as deputy speaker after no other candidate filed nomination papers against him. Durrani was elected to the National Assembly as a candidate of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) from Constituency NA-35 (Bannu) in 2018’s by-elections held on 14 October 2018.
