Construction work on the T-Chowk Flyover Project has been significantly accelerated following special directives from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, as authorities emphasize a strict adherence to the project’s completion deadline.
A recent progress report reveals that substantial headway has been made on the critical infrastructure undertaking. The piling work for the structure is now 100% finished, while the casting of girders has reached 84% completion. Furthermore, 60% of the retaining walls have been finalized.
During a recent visit to the site to review the development activities, Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the ongoing work. He was accompanied by senior CDA officials, contractors, and consultants.
The CDA Chairman issued several instructions to the concerned departments, including a directive to prepare and present a comprehensive landscaping and horticulture plan to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the flyover and its surroundings.
‘The highest construction standards must be ensured at every stage,’ Mr. Randhawa stressed. He also ordered the installation of decorative LED lighting in the project area and instructed staff to maintain cleanliness at all completed sections.
Officials briefed the Chairman that construction activities are proceeding on a 24/7 basis. He reiterated to the resident engineers and consultants the importance of ensuring timely completion and strict adherence to quality benchmarks.
Upon completion, the project is expected to provide signal-free travel facilities, easing commutes for residents of the twin cities and for traffic arriving from Lahore and other parts of Punjab.
