A district and sessions court in the capital has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur after he failed to appear for his scheduled indictment in a contentious audio leak case.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Nasr Minallah Baloch, who was hearing the case on Wednesday, noted the absence of any legal representative for Gandapur. The non-appearance compelled the court to defer the indictment proceedings planned for the day.
Following the former chief minister’s failure to attend, the court instructed law enforcement authorities to apprehend Gandapur and produce him before the judiciary.
The case originates from a leaked audio recording from 2022, which is reportedly linked to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march. In the clip, Gandapur was allegedly heard asking another individual about the availability of firearms. A formal case was subsequently lodged against him at Islamabad’s Golra Police Station in relation to the recording.
The court has adjourned the hearing of the case until December 5, 2025.
