Top government officials from key Eurasian powers, including Russia, China, Iran, and representatives from Pakistan and India, are convening in Moscow today for a significant Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government (CHG) meeting set to address critical regional and global matters.

Pakistan’s delegation to the high-level gathering is being led by Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar. He is scheduled to present Islamabad’s perspective on important international and regional topics during his formal address to the council.

The Deputy Prime Minister’s agenda includes tabling proposals on strengthening the SCO for the collective benefit of its member nations. Mr. Dar is also expected to engage in a series of bilateral meetings with leaders from other participating countries on the sidelines of the summit.

The CHG is being attended by the Heads of Government from Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Iran is represented by its Vice President, while India has dispatched its Foreign Minister to the proceedings.

The summit”s broad scope is highlighted by the presence of numerous other states and organizations. Attendees include the heads of government from Mongolia, Bahrain, Egypt, Qatar, Kuwait, and Turkmenistan, alongside chiefs of international bodies such as the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Euro Asian Economic Union (EAEU), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
