Pakistan has reiterated its proposal for the creation of a dedicated mechanism to monitor the enforcement of United Nations General Assembly resolutions, arguing the measure is essential for the international body to remain credible.

According to a statement today, delivering a national statement at a UN General Assembly meeting, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, urged for the implementation of the UN’s resolutions in letter and spirit.

The ambassador stressed that these resolutions carry significant moral authority as well as legal and political weight, reflecting the collective will of the international community.

Ahmad framed the revitalization of the General Assembly as a political effort to restore balance, equity, and democratic participation. He affirmed that Pakistan supports measures to make the Assembly more efficient by refining agendas, streamlining resolutions, improving reports, and ensuring action-oriented results.
