Man killed, his two sons injured near Madeji

SHIKARPUR:A 45-year Abdul Fatah Junejo was gunned down and his two sons Muhammad Murad, 18, and Ali Nawaz Junejo, 16, were injured in a shootout between two groups of Junejo community in village Faqeer located within the limits of 20-Miles police Station, near here Tuesday.

Police said that both groups at the very outset had a quarrel over irrigation water and suddenly one group took out arms and started straight firing.

Police reached the spot one hour late despite being near, eye witnesses told newsmen and shifted injured to Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH), Larkana, which is over 40 kilometers away from here as Taluka Headquarter Hospital (THQ), Madeji, has no emergency treatment facilities since its establishment and all emergency cases are referred to Larkana. The relatives of the deceased Fatah Junejo took his body, staged sit-in near Mirzapur by blocking Sukkur-Larkana highway for two hours.

They were shouting slogans against police, burnt tyres and held protest demonstration as well. While talking to newsmen Gulzar Junejo, Samina Khatoon, Rubina Khatoon, Sona, Nasima, Dhani Bux, Jaffar, Deedar and others said that accused persons are very influential having support of police.

They said they will not end their sit-in till all the accused are not arrested. SHO Gaheja and Madeji went to them and persuaded them but they refused to call off their protest and open the main road. Finally after two hours in this scorching heat DSP Madeji went there and assured them that all accused will be brought to justice no matter how they enjoy influence of anyone. However no case was filed till filing of this report.
