Minister: (Marriyum strongly condemns Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir)

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has strongly condemned the Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir and the atrocities committed against unarmed Kashmiris by the Indian security forces.

In a statement, she said that the bloodshed of the people of Kashmir at the hands of savage Indian armed forces is an affront to the conscience of the world.

The Minister of State said the hapless Kashmiris are asking question why international community is silent over Indian atrocities in Kashmir.

UN: (UN chief concerns over situation in Kashmir, called for investigation)

ISLAMABAD: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has voiced serious concern over the spate of killings of Kashmiri protesters in Indian occupied Kashmir and called for an investigation.

Answering questions by media persons during regular briefing in New York, secretary-general’s spokesman, StephaneDujarric said the UN chief is concerned about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said it is basic principle to investigate escalating violence and protect civilians wherever they are, whether it is in Gaza, Jammu and Kashmir, or Yemen.

The UN Chief reminded that member states are responsible under international humanitarian law to protect the civilians.

The Secretary-General reiterated his call on member states to find ways to address disputes in a peaceful manner.

PM: (PM Abbasi to address joint session of AJK Legislative Assembly on April 4)

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister ShahidKhaqanAbbasi will address joint session of the AJK Legislative Assembly and Kashmir Council in Muzaffarabad today (Wednesday) to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir, facing the Indian oppression.

Meanwhile, in a message, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan would stand up to the demand of the victims of Indian brutality.

He said Pakistan had strongly condemned the brutal and in discriminatory use of force by the Indian occupation forces leading to martyrdom of over seventeen innocent Kashmiris in Shopian and Anantnag areas of Occupied Kashmir.

The Prime Minister said the brutal crackdown, including the despicable use of pellet guns on civilians who were protesting against the killings is deplorable.

He said, Indian attempts to label the legitimate Kashmir struggle as terrorism cannot deter the valiant people of Jammu and Kashmir from their demand of exercising their right to self determination in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.

Minister: (Interior Minister urges Int’l community on cooperation in combating terrorism)

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister AhsanIqbal has urged the international community to pay attention towards resolving conflicts in order to effectively address the menace of extremism and terrorism.

He was addressing an international conference on counter terrorism here on Tuesday. Voicing concerns over recent wave of terror unleashed by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir, the interior minister said this will not contribute to bringing peace and stability to the region.

He said responsibility rests with the world community to ensure that the blood and sufferings of any citizen regardless of his faith and ethniticty has equal sanctity. Otherwise, the terrorist outfits will exploit the situation to their advantage.

AhsanIqbal said we carried out Zarb-e- Azb like operations from our own resources to flush out terror outfits. He said it is our national resolve to cleanse any sign of terrorism to achieve the objective of peace and development.

He said our sixty thousand people became victim of terrorism but this did not deter the resolve of the nation. He said narrative of peace and development is very clear to the nation.

He however said that the war on terror is not over yet and we have to undertake collaborative efforts to achieve decisive victory. He said the world publications are declaring Pakistan as an emerging economy in the world.

Speaking on the occasion, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir SardarMasood Khan said India must seize its overt and covert terrorist activities inside Pakistan`s borders.

Trade: (FBR urged to reactivate Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee)

ISLAMABAD: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) in its Pre-Budget Proposals has urged the government to reactivate the Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee (ADRC) and provide the taxpayers an easy and efficient mechanism for resolution of tax related disputes, outside the court of law and liquidate huge amount of tax arrears.

The FPCCI Pre-Budget proposals are being prepared by the FPCCI Advisory Council under the Chairmanship of Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir, Sr. Vice President, FPCCI.

The proposals argued that a huge amount of tax arrears is lying pending for liquidation and payment to both the stakeholders Taxpayers and FBR – due to inordinate delay in completion of litigation process.

It added that the active and prominent members be selected from legal fraternity, public, FBR and private sectors (FPCCI & Chambers) and their Proper rules may be framed for formation of the Committee, scope of work, conduction of ADRC proceedings, stay of matter/demand, disposal of application by the ADRC Committee, retention of record, remuneration for members of ADRC etc.

The FPCCI elaborated that being an independent, unbiased and trustworthy body because of the nature of its composition (FBR officials and other experts from public and private sectors) ADRC will have a very strong element of credibility and hoped that the efficient use of ADRC will have a solitary effect on generation of more taxes to the Government Exchequer, quick disposal of longstanding pending cases in court of law, reduction in litigations and court cases.

President: (Pak, China to work together for peace in region: President)

ISLAMABAD: PresidentMamnoonHussain has said that Pakistan and China will continue working together for world peace, stability, security and prosperity.

He was talking to a delegation of relatives of those workers, who had laid down their lives during the construction of KKH in Islamabad on Tuesday.

He said Karakoram Highway is the foundation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its conceivers are founders of this corridor. The President said that the world gives examples of unprecedented friendship of Pakistan and China.
