Over 100 gas sucking compressors seized in Lahore

LAHORE: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) on Sunday seized more than 100 compressors in raids in Lahore. The compressors are being used in houses to suck gas to address low pressure in Lahore, the SNGPL officials said adding obtaining gas from the gas line through the compressor is an unethical practice and a violation of the law. The citizens are also advised not to use compressors for increasing the gas pressure as it was dangerous. The raids were conducted in Shalimar, Mughalpura, Uchra, Samanabad, Gulshan-e-Ravi and others. The SNGPL warned that gas meter will be disconnected from the household consumer from where a compressor is seized. Faisalabad cops kill two muggers in encounter

FAISALABAD: Faisalabad police on Saturday claimed to have killed two robbers in an encounter in Faisalabad on Saturday. According to police, the two robbers committed a robbery in Hajiabad area and hid themselves in shop after fleeing. On information, the police party, led by Station House Officer Millat Town Rana Mugfoor, chased and spotted them at a shop in Faisalabad area. When police reached there, an encounter took place. In crossfire, the two robbers were killed. The police have started further probe into the incident.

Balochistan customs foils bid to smuggle drugs in

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Balochistan Saturday claimed to have foiled a bid to smuggle four kilograms of high quality ice crystal and 200 grams of heroin amounting to Rs110 million in Lakpass area. According to a statement issued by the spokesperson for Collectorate of Customs Balochistan, the customs intercepted a fielder vehicle at Lakpass check post. Upon searching, four kilograms of high quality ice crystal (Methamphetamine) and 200 grams of heroin worth Rs110 million were recovered from the hidden cavities of the vehicle. An accused was also apprehended during the operation.

Unidentified armed men gun down man

DUKI: Unidentified armed men gunned down one man and injured another in Talao Balunda area of Duki in Balochistan province on Friday. According to levies force, one man, identified as Malik Jan Malezai Luni, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Talao Bulanda area of district Duki while another person namely Nawab Khan son of Khan Muhammad Luni sustained injuries in the firing incident. The body and injured were taken to Civil Hospital Loralai for completion of codal formalities and treatment. The body was handed over to the heirs after fulfilling necessary medico-legal formalities while the injured, stated to be in critical condition, was being treated. Shikarpur police recover two kidnapees after encounter

SHIKARPUR: Two persons abducted by bandits 15 days ago were recovered by Shikarpur police after a gunfight on Thursday. Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Shikarpur told the media that two citizens were recovered from bandits after a gunfight in the vicinity of the Napar Kot police station. He said that the bandits were transporting the abductees to another location when police raided on a tip-off. The bandits opened fire at the cops and fled from the scene after police retaliation, leaving behind the abducted citizens. Firing at South Waziristan girls’ school leaves passerby dead

South Waziristan: An attack on a girls’ school in South Waziristan’s Azam Warsak area left one man killed and a security official injured, police said Friday. Police said militants opened fire on the occasion of Parents’ Day celebrations at the Army Public School for Girls. The students, parents, staff and security personnel remained unhurt. Masti Khan was passing by the school when a bullet hit him, police said, adding that the injured security official was shifted to hospital. Security forces retaliated, making the attackers flee. Militants have been targeting security forces in the area and carried out six attacks at the Azam Warsak police station in the last more than one month in which seven policemen were martyred.
