NADRA asked to issue CNICs to stranded Pakistanis

Karachi: Former Chief Justice Shariat Court Justice (retd) Haziqul Khairi said that country was divided for not accepting the mandate of majority party in 1971 General Election; resultantly over 300000 stranded Pakistanis are living their lives in the camps under difficult conditions.

Addressing to a seminar titled “Suqoot-e-Dhaka: Maqam-e-Ibrat or Nadamat?” under the banner of Tehreek-e-Mehsooreen Mashriqi Pakistan, he said that enemies entangled us into fight over language although Qauid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah already had said that language of one province could not be understood in other provinces. As Urdu was considered the language of all provinces, therefore he declared Urdu as National Language of Pakistan.

He further said what cruelty has been done with stranded Pakistanis in Bangladesh and what problems they are facing, we will continue our struggle for to solve them.

Chief Guest of the Seminar, President Karachi Press Club Ahmed Khan Malik said that in 1971 Hindus were fighting in the name of Mukti Bahni who had full-fledged help of India. He said that millions of people are given Immigration in Europe every year, and stranded Pakistanis are only 300000. He asked why they could not get citizenship and these Pakistanis are not being issued National Identity Card.

Former MNA Shabbir Ahmed Ansari said in his address that stranded Pakistanis in Bangladesh are still waving Pakistani Flags in their camps. He said that before 1971 stranded Pakistanis were living thee and had daily bread, jobs, their children went to the school, but when they stood shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan Army then they braved worst cruelty of the history and they has been living a miserable life since 48 years. He further said that if they habilitated in Cholistan, then they make it a garden. Chairman Tehreek-e-Mehsooreen Mashriqi Pakistan Brigadier (r) Salah Uddin (Sitara-e-Imtiaz Military) said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had promised to bring back stranded Pakistanis but they did not fulfil his promise. He said that all organizations of Mehsooreen should struggle in co-ordination of each other, make a platform and jointly struggle then problem of stranded Pakistanis could be solved.

He said about hindrances in issuance and renewal of National Identity Cards to dispersed families of Mehsooreen that we are trying to meet Director General of Nadra and other government officials so that their difficulties could be diminished.

Social Worker Feroz Khan said that our parents earlier gave sacrifices for foundation of Pakistan afterward in 1971 they gave sacrifices for saving Pakistan but they did not get anything in retaliation even they are stranded in the camps since 48 years. He demanded of the Government of Pakistan that immediately bring back stranded Pakistanis to Pakistan.

On this occasion Chairman of Advisory Committee of Tehreek-e-Mehsooreen Mashriqi Pakistan Hasan Imam Siddiqui tabled a resolution wherein it was said that this gathering appreciates the steps taken by Chief Justice of Pakistan over all problems in Pakistan but this gathering also demands suo moto action that make a committee for stranded Pakistanis which takes actions for immediately bringing them back to Pakistan.

In another resolution it was demanded to immediately remove hindrances in getting and renewing National Identity Card and other legal documents for Beharis because they are bereaved of their legal rights due to not having these documents. Both resolutions were passed unanimously.

Haider Ali Haider, Latif Premi, Jahangir Khan, Builqees Islam, Afsar Murshid Abadi and Kamran Behari all addressed to the seminar while prominent poets Dr. Anis Ul Haq Anis and Syed Iftikhar Ahmed Rashk recited their poems. Shaheen Musawwir, Javed Farooqui, Khwaja Zul Qarnain, Jafar Ul Hasan, Muhammad Iqbal Siddiqui, Noor Alam Niaz and others were present on this occasion.

Sports: Hockey: Uzbekistan outplays Afghanistan 11-0 Hockey Series Open opener

Lahore: Uzbekistan outplayed Afghanistan 11-0 in a completely one-sided match as international hockey returns to Pakistan with Haier Hockey Series Open here at the National Hockey Stadium.

Senior Minister Punjab Raja Basharat was the chief guest at the opening ceremony of this FIH event. President Pakistan Hockey Federation Khalid Sajjad Khokhar was also present.

The second match was played between Pakistan President XI and Nepal. Pakistan President XI’s is appearing as a guest team. Their matches are all ‘friendly games’ and carry no points towards the actual tournament.

It also turned out to be a lopsided contest. Pakistan President XI consisting of young emerging players easily defeated Nepal 9-0

On Tuesday, Kazakhstan will take on Nepal while Pakistan President XI will face Uzbekistan.

Pakistan, with a glorious past in the game of hockey, is hosting an FIH-sanctioned international hockey tournament after a lapse of 14 years. Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Nepal and Uzbekistan are vying for a place in the 2019 Hockey Series Finals.

100 major exchanges being upgraded: PTA

KARACHI: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has upgraded Hayatabad, GT Road, Khyber and City exchanges in Peshawar under its Network Transformation Project.

Under the Network Transformation Project, 100 major exchanges are being upgraded across the country. Currently, 53 exchanges have been transformed in 12 cities including Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Karachi, Kharian, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi and Sialkot.

On this occasion, Badarul Zaman, Regional General Manager, Peshawar, PTCL said, “With the upgradation of these exchanges in Peshawar, our customers can now experience high speed unlimited internet and seamless broadband connectivity in these areas. This transformation has already started to show great results and it has considerably reduced customer complaints.”

In transformed exchanges, the customers can now avail unlimited internet with speeds including 10, 20, 50, 100 mbps, along with free PTCL calls, unlimited downloads, free PTCL Smart TV and Smart TV App, unlimited iflix access for 1-year and free Wi-Fi router.

63 more dengue cases in Karachi

KARACHI: At least 63 more dengue fever cases were detected in Karachi last week, taking the reported cases’ toll to 1,862 since 1st January 2018.

As per the weekly report issued by Prevention and Control Program for Dengue in Sindh, as many as 72 new dengue fever cases reported across the Sindh province in a week; out of these cases 63 were found in Karachi and nine in other district.

In December, a total of 233 dengue positive cases has been reported throughout the Sindh province so far; out them 224 in Karachi and nine in other districts.

District East, South, West and Central are most affected districts in Karachi division while dengue cases are also being reported from Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur and Ghotki.

This year, a total of 1,965 dengue cases reported across the province out of which 1,862 were Karachi and 103 in the rest of province.

Two deaths were also reported from dengue fever in Karachi city this year.

IOK: (Mirwaiz, Yasin Malik arrested)

ISLAMABAD: In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Chief of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik after they tried to lead a march towards Indian army headquarters in Badami Bagh, Srinagar.

Call for the march was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership against the massacre of around a dozen Kashmiri youth by Indian forces in Pulwama.

Complete shutdown is being observed for the third consecutive day on Monday in Srinagar and others major towns of the territory.

All shops and business establishments are closed while traffic is off the road.

SHC issues notices to Mayor, others for non-payment to KMC teachers

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued notices to Mayor Karachi, Secretary Local Bodies, and District Municipal Corporations (DMCs) till 17th January in a case pertaining to non-payment of salaries to the teachers of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) schools

The SHC heard the plea filed a group of teachers who stated before the court that 240 teachers of the KMC have not been getting salary since 15th December 2015.

The education employees performed their duties during census and election 2018, the teachers said

They said that teaching and non-teaching staff are performing duties regularly, but their salaries were stopped without telling any reason.

Later, the hearing was adjourned to the date to be fixed in office.

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Speaker, National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri has said that government and people of Pakistan have great affection for Al-Quds Sharif and strongly condemned its unlawful inclusion in Israel’s territories.

He said Pakistan’s Parliament, Government and people had always condemned human rights violations in Palestine and brutal killing of innocent people of Palestine by Israel forces.

According to a message received from Istanbul, Turkey, he expressed these views while addressing the 2nd Conference of the Parliamentary Association for Al-Quds’’ at Istanbul on Monday.

He said Pakistan has fully supported idea for resolution of all international disputes specially Arab-Israel dispute for durable peace in Middle East.

He said Pakistan strongly condemns the decision of United State for recognizing Jerusalem as Capital of Israel and shifting its embassy in occupied Al-Quds Sharif. He said US decision was violation of resolutions of United Nation Security Council.

He said Pakistani Parliament while condemning the US decision of shifting its Embassy in Al-Quds Sharif has passed resolutions against this decision and expressed its commitment to stand with people of Palestine.

He said Pakistan always raised the Kashmir and Palestine issues at all regional and international forums and condemned the Israel’s aggression against the people of Palestine.

He said people of Pakistan expressed complete solidarity with their Palestinian brethren and condemned human rights violations in Palestine by Israel’s Armed Forces.

He said peace in Arab countries was imperative for the peace of whole world.

He stressed upon the International Community to persuade US for early provision of US funds to United Nations for provision of food, education and health facilities to Palestinian refugees in occupied territories Lebanon, Jordan and Syria as suspension of US funds to United National Work and Relief Agency for Palestine had halt its operations.

He urge upon Muslim Ummah to come forward to help Palestinian people who are suffering from severe human crises in occupied territories.

He urged upon the participants of the meeting to play their due role to overcome the challenges being faced by the Muslim Ummah and mitigate the sufferings of Palestinian people.

He thanked the Speaker of Grand National Assembly of Turkey for organizing the conference on important issue of Palestine and also appreciated the endeavour of president of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan for unity of Ummah.
