PM: (Governor KP briefs PM on development in tribal districts)

ISLAMABAD:,,, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman called on Prime Minister Imran Khan here on Wednesday.

Overall political situation of the country and the future course of action were discussed in the meeting.

The Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa briefed the Prime Minister on development in tribal districts and the opportunities being provided to the youth of the region to play an effective role in progress and development of the country.

President: (Govt to provide equal opportunities for promotion of business sector: President)

ISLAMABAD:,,, President Dr Arif Alvi has said the business environment has improved in the country as a result of the government’s reforms and policies.

Talking to a delegation of Entrepreneurs’ Organization here on Wednesday, he said the government is taking steps to provide equal opportunities for promotion of the business sector.

The President said Pakistan’s position in world rankings in ease of doing business has improved by 28 points. He said the government announced economic package for relief of the business community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The President said the Entrepreneurs’ Organization should play its role in enhancing Pakistan’s exports and its access to the world markets.

He said a strategy will have been adopted keeping in view the global tendencies to deal with the changing situation in world markets and to secure economic benefits.

President: (Pakistan, Djibouti want to boost cooperation in diverse areas: President)

ISLAMABAD:,,, Pakistan and Djibouti have reiterated their desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the areas of commerce, culture and defense.

This was discussed at a meeting between President Dr Arif Alvi and the visiting Djibouti parliamentary delegation, led by President of National Parliament of Djibouti and acting-Chairman of African Union Parliament, Mr Mohamed Ali Houmed, here on Wednesday.

While welcoming the delegation, the President said Pakistan wants to further improve defense and economic ties with Djibouti for mutual benefit of the two brotherly countries.

He appreciated the visit of Parliamentary delegation and expressed the hope that it would further strengthen the existing foundation of strong bilateral relations between the two countries.

He informed that Pakistan highly values its ties with Djibouti and has decided to open its embassy there and resident diplomatic missions in other African countries.

The President sought the support of the Government of Djibouti to expeditiously process and clear Pakistani goods at Djibouti port meant for Ethiopia and other destinations in the Horn of Africa.

Dr Arif Alvi also highlighted the atrocities and human rights violations being committed by India against the Muslim population in the Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He emphasized the need for a unified call from international community to put pressure on India to stop human rights violations and grant Kashmiris their right to self-determination as promised under the UN Security Council resolutions.

President of National Parliament of Djibouti underscored the need for expanding bilateral cooperation in every sphere, including culture, trade and defense. He said Gwadar and Djibouti ports would help boost trade between the two brotherly countries.

Both sides emphasized the need for parliamentary, cultural and defense exchanges which would help in bringing the two countries further closer.

KP: (Govt to provide better healthcare to general public at their doorsteps: KP CM)

ISLAMABAD:,,, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has said the government is committed to provide better healthcare to the general public at their doorsteps.

Presiding over a meeting in Peshawar, he said establishment of new tertiary care hospitals in Hazara, Malakand and South region is the need of hour.

He directed the concerned authorities to identify suitable lands for establishment of such hospitals and submit formal proposals within two week time.

Mahmood Khan said establishment of new hospitals will minimize burden of patients on teaching hospitals of Peshawar.

The meeting was informed that the proposed hospitals will be established under Public Private Partnership for which land will be provided by provincial government.

Minister: (Committee constituted to review upcoming census process, data collection)

ISLAMABAD:,,, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has constituted a five-member committee headed by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Muhammad Jehanzeb Khan to review the census process, data collection and field operation methodologies used for Census 2017.

The Committee will recommend the modern methodologies being adopted for censuses in region and globe for conduct of upcoming census.

It will ensure that the next census is not only accurate but also inspires confidence amongst all stakeholders that it is a true reflection of population in all regions of the country.

Senate: (Govt ready to talk to opposition on issues of public-interest: Faisal Javed)

ISLAMABAD:,,, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Faisal Javed has said the government is ready to talk to the opposition on public-interest issues such as electoral reforms and COVID-19, but not on the corruption cases against opposition leaders.

Talking to media here at Parliament House on Wednesday, he categorically stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan will not give National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) to the opposition leaders facing corruption cases at any cost.

Presenting before the media draft of the opposition for amendments in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law, Senator Faisal Javed said the opposition proposed amendments in 34 of the 38 provisions of the NAB Act.

He said the opposition wanted that all the corruption cases before 1999 should be closed and corruption below one billion rupees should not be taken up by the NAB.

He said the opposition also desired change in the definition of Benami and that the international evidence should not be presented before the NAB.

Faisal Javed said the opposition’s public meetings were flopped shows, and therefore, they are also showing reluctance to give resignations from assemblies.

Speaking on the occasion, Senator Zeeshan Khanzada said the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) campaign has failed as people have rejected them. He said people have understood that the PTI government is following long-term policies for betterment of the country.

PM: (PM directs to prioritize provision of relief to domestic electricity consumers)

ISLAMABAD:,,, Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed for giving top most priority to the provision of relief to domestic electricity consumers and uninterrupted and affordable power supply to industries.

Chairing a meeting on energy sector here on Wednesday, he expressed satisfaction over reforms being made in energy sector.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the reforms should be designed keeping in view the future needs and they should be long-lasting.

The meeting discussed improvement in production and transmission of electricity, making energy mix better and environment friendly, and the proposed projects of generating cheap electricity.

In addition, the meeting was informed on the progress in ongoing projects. The Prime Minister was also apprised about the agreements made by the previous governments and their negative effects on economy and ordinary people. He was also briefed about the steps taken for relief of the common man and the industry despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
