QUETTA: Syed Zahid Shah (BCS/BS-19), awaiting posting orders in SandGAD, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner, Sibbi vice Muhammad Yasir Khan Bazai.

 

According to a government notification, Muhammad Yasir Khan Bazai (BCS/BS-18), Deputy Commissioner, Sibbi has been transferred and directed to report to SandGAD.

 

Hafiz Muhammad Qasim (BCS/BS-18), Deputy Commissioner, Naseerabad has been transferred and directed to report to SandGAD while Azhar Shahzad (BCS/BS-18), Deputy Secretary, Chief Minister’s Secretariat has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner, Naseerabad vice Hafiz Muhammad Qasim.

COVID-19 claims 14 more lives, infects 348 others

KARACHI: As many as 14 more patient of coronavirus died overnight in Sindh, lifting the death toll to 4,315 while 348 new cases emerged when 10,918 tests were conducted.

 

This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Wednesday. He added that 14 more patient of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 4,315 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate.

 

Shah said that 10,918 samples were tested which detected 348 cases that constituted 3.2 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 2,978,835 tests have been conducted against which 257,088 cases were diagnosed, of them 93.6 percent or 240,676 patients have recovered, including 619 overnight.

 

The CM said that currently 12,097 patients were under treatment, of them 11,680 were in home isolation, 7 at isolation centers and 410 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 372 patients was stated to be critical, including 50 shifted to ventilators.

 

According to the statement, out of 348 new cases, 183 have been detected from Karachi, including 49 from East, 45 Korangi, 30 Malir, 27 South, 17 West and 15 Central. Matiari and Shaheed Benazirabad have 25 each, Hyderabad 22, Thatta 17, Tando Allahyar 15, Badin 11, Larkana 7, Jamshoro and Sujawal 6 each, Ghotki and Sanghar 4 each, Khairpur and Mirpurkhas 3 each, Jacobabad and Sukkur 2 each, Naushero Feroze 1. The Chief Minister urged people of the province to follow SOPs.

BHC moved against nomination of Hashmi, Kalmati for Senate polls

QUETTA: A petition has been filed challenging the nomination of Saeed Ahmed Hashmi and Naveed Kalmati against the seat of Senate technocrat.

 

The Central Human Rights Secretary of Balochistan National Party moved Balochistan High Court challenging the acceptance of nomination papers of Saeed Ahmed Hashmi and Naveed Kalmati of Balochistan Awami Party for Senate’s technocrat seats.

 

It had been pleaded in the petition that Hashmi and Kalmati, whose candidatures, had been accepted against the technocrat seat of upper house, did not fulfill the criteria prescribed for the slot of technocrat, hence, it had been pleaded to reject their nomination papers.

Water plant inaugurated Chattar area

QUETTA: Commandant Sue Rifles, Nasir Mehmood has said that Frontier Corps Balochistan (FC) had always remained with the people of Balochistan and that was why peace in the province had been restored.

 

These views were expressed by him after inaugurating filter plant of pure drinking water at Mir Hassan Pull area of Tehsil Chattar on Wednesday. Commandant Sue Rifles, Nasir Mehmood added that Frontier Corps Balochistan had always remained at forefront to provide relief to the people of the province.

 

He said that the installation of filter plant at Mir Hassan Pull area of Tehsil Chattar was aimed at providing pure drinking water to the dwellers of the area so that they could be saved from hazardous diseases. On the occasion, 72 Wing Lt Col Raja Shakeel Ahmed, Captain Hammad, SM Inayat, Incharge RD 418, Aslam, Sardarzada Syed Imran Shah and others were also present.

PDM is other name of political hypocrisy: Shibli

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz has said the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is the other name of political hypocrisy.

 

In a tweet on Wednesday, he said, on one side, the opposition is making hue and cry of rigging; while on the other, it is opposing free and transparent electoral system. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan will continue his struggle for truth.

Japanese envoy lauds PM’s initiative of establishing Miyawaki forests

ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Matsuda Kuninori has expressed his deep appreciation for Prime Minister Imran Khan’s initiative of adopting the Japanese Miyawaki planting technique in the country’s urban localities to fight environmental pollution.

 

In a statement, he said combating environmental challenges is one of the priority areas for Japan and we appreciate the Government of Pakistan and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision for creating a pure, green and healthy environment for the people.

 

Under the Japanese Miyawaki approach, dozens of species that suit the environment are planted in the same area, close to each other, which ensures that they grow in a competitive environment.
