NAB files reference against two Board of Revenue members

QUETTA: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan on Friday filed a reference against former senior Member, Board of Revenue Balochistan and Member-II, Board of Revenue in illegal allotment of state land to a private person.

Reference was filed in the Accountability Court headed by Munawar Ahmed Shahwani. The revenue officers, including former senior Member of Board of Revenue Shehbaz Khan and Member-II, Board of Revenue, Sarwar Javed in connivance with each other illegally allotted the valuable provincial government’s land to a private person, the current value of which is Rs38,909,970, according to the reference. NAB Balochistan after completing the probe filed the reference in the accountability court Quetta.

Dental Clinic at Bolan Medical Complex Hospital opens

QUETTA: Dental Clinic at Bolan Medical Complex Hospital, Quetta, to be functional 24/7, has been inaugurated by Dr. Kamalan Gichki, Medical Superintendent, Bolan Medical Complex Hospital, Quetta.

According to a statement issued here on Friday, patients, suffering from teeth, jaw and face, would be treated in the dental clinic round the clock.

On the occasion, Incharge, Dental Department, Dr. Fazal Dad, Professor Rauf Shah, Surgeon Khan Muhammad Babar, Deputy Medical Superintendent, BMCH, Dr. Abdul Rasheed Jamali, RMO, Dr. Qasim and others were also present.

SSUET to produce prosthetic limb at low cost

QUETTA: Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) has joined hands with Healthcare and Social Welfare Association (HASWA) for producing prosthetic limb in low cost.

The university is providing technical and strategic support to produce the automatic limb of high quality with lower cost. Sir Syed University had a session at the campus to demonstrate the automatic prosthetic limb, so far developed in collaboration with HASWA.

Addressing the session, Chancellor Jawaid Anwar said that it is really a tear-jerking experience to see a person with no limbs. However, prosthetic limbs may help him a lot to restore his confidence and make him to become independent. Sir Syed University is working on it to help the needy and deserving persons by joining hands with HASWA to develop a fully automatic prosthetic limb. SSUET strongly support HASWA to help the poorest of the poor.

On the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin pointed out that the university is an important part of the society and fills the need of it. We aim to work on different dimensions with other organization and institutions to broaden the horizon. Sir Syed University has a competent and experienced faculty to carry forward the vision of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan to develop a society with healthy norms. Sir Syed University has many engineering technologies under one roof including highly developed IT department.

Akbar Ismail of HASWA, said every human being has a right to a healthy happy life not just an existence. HASWA provides free prosthetic Artificial Limbs and Calipers to the needy and deserved persons.

To date, more than 18,000 People have been benefited by HASWA. Regaining mobility is a critical first step on the long road to recovery for amputees. They can begin to rebuild their lives, transforming a life of dependency on others into a life of increased self-worth and independence.

Engr. Dr. Sarmad Shams, Chairperson Biomedical Engineering Department, said that SSUET technical team is working on to make the limbs, which are light, easily adjustable and very mobile. Now the person fixed with limb can hold the empty glass and it will be a great achievement when he will hold a cup and bring it to the mouth.

Pakistan, Qatar sign 10-year LNG agreement

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Qatar signed a ten-year LNG agreement here on Friday.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Prime Minister Imran Khan. Under the agreement, Qatar will provide three million tons of LNG to Pakistan for ten years.

Speaking on the occasion, Qatari Energy Minister Saad Sherida al-Kaabi termed the LNG agreement a historic one for both the countries.

He expressed the confidence that this will lead to promotion of cooperation between the two countries.

Special Assistant on Petroleum Nadeem Babar said the new agreement signed with Qatar for import of LNG is supportive and meets our needs and requirements.

He said the agreement is a start of a new era and take the bilateral relations between the two countries to new heights. He said Pakistan will further engage with Qatar in petrochemical supplies.

PM performs groundbreaking of Central Business District in Lahore

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan performed the groundbreaking of Central Business District in Lahore on Friday.

Addressing a ceremony on the occasion, the Prime Minister said this project will serve as a business hub that will help in wealth generation. He was confident that this project will help generate six thousand billion rupees. In the first phase, he said the project will generate 1300 billion rupees and the federal government will get two hundred and fifty billion rupees in taxes.

The Prime Minister stressed that wealth generation projects are important to strengthen the economy enabling it to return the loans. He regretted that the economy was mismanaged in the previous two governments.

He said we inherited difficult economic situation. He however expressed satisfaction that the current account surplus remained surplus during the first six months of current fiscal year. He said our textile exports are also witnessing increase and new industries are being set up in the country.

Referring to Naya Pakistan Housing Project, the Prime Minister said this will provide affordable houses to the salaried class and the laborers. He said Pakistan and Qatar have signed a new LNG import agreement for ten years. He said it took the government three years to negotiate this agreement which will help save three hundred million dollars annually.
