Pakistani, Palestinian, Turkish and Sudanese FMs leave for NY to highlight Israeli aggression at UN

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who is on a diplomatic peace mission, left for New York today (Wednesday) from Turkey.

 

Foreign Ministers (FMs) of Palestine, Sudan and Turkey are also accompanying the Pakistani Foreign Minister. Shah Mahmood Qureshi will attend the emergency meeting of United Nations General Assembly in connection with Palestine issue tomorrow (Thursday) and will draw the attention of international community on Israeli atrocities against unarmed Palestinians.

 

Shah Mahmood Qureshi will urge the world body to play its due role in stopping Israeli atrocities against innocent Palestinians. He will also hold important meetings with President General Assembly and other personalities.

 

Besides, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan will also interact with local and international men to highlight Pakistan’s stance on regional and international issues, especially the recent situation in Palestine. Prior to his departure, Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a meeting with his Palestinian counterpart Riyad al-Maliki and exchanged views over evolving situation in the Palestine.

 

He conveyed the resolve of Pakistani leadership, especially Prime Minister Imran Khan, to continue supporting Palestinians’ struggle. The Foreign Minister strongly condemned the Israeli aggression against the innocent people of Palestine.

Turkish President lauds Pakistan’s unflinching support to oppressed Palestinian people

ISLAMABAD: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday applauded Pakistan’s unflinching support to the oppressed Palestinian people.

 

He was talking to Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi who called on him at the presidential palace in Ankara. Discussing bilateral relations, the Turkish President said his country will host the seventh meeting of Pakistan Turkey high level strategic cooperation council.

 

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said both Pakistan and Turkey enjoy strong relations and share identical views on a host of issues. He appreciated the Turkish President’s categorical stance on Kashmir and Palestine disputes.

PM inaugurates low-cost family flats for labourers in Peshawar

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated low-cost family flats for labourers at Regi Lalma in Peshawar on Wednesday.

 

Under the project, 2056 family flats will be distributed among registered workers of the province through balloting. Three percent quota has been reserved for widows and two percent for differently abled people. The project, also include a school comprising 30 class rooms.

Masood calls for Muslim unity to end plight of Palestinians, Kashmiris

ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan has said the unity among the Muslims is vital for ending the plights of the oppressed people of Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ and K).

 

In a statement in Muzaffarabad, expressing deep sense of shock over the indiscriminate bombardment in Gaza and other areas of Palestine and martyrdom of innocent Palestinian, he said Muslims in Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir are being targeted because of their religion and belief.

Int’l Monitoring Board appreciates Pakistan’s progress in controlling polio

ISLAMABAD: International Monitoring Board (IMB) has appreciated Pakistan’s progress in controlling polio virus, despite complex challenges faced by the immunization programme.

 

The appreciation came at a virtual meeting of the Board that was attended by the IMB Chair Sir Liam Donaldson, and its members, all international experts in polio eradication and public health.

 

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services (SAPM), Dr Faisal Sultan in his inaugural speech at the meeting said despite the complex challenges of the COVID 19 pandemic, Pakistan is optimistic about controlling polio before the end of next year.

MCCH, Nullah Leh expressway project to be completed in PTI govt’s tenure: Rashid

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that Mother and Child Care Hospital (MCCH) Rawalpindi and Nullah Leh expressway project will be completed in the tenure of present government.

 

Talking to media persons here on Wednesday, he said that he will talk to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar tomorrow (Thursday) for commencement of work on Nullah Leh Expressway project.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan said Mother and Child Care Hospital will be the most modern facility and it will be completed during the current year. He said some basic functions of the hospital will become operational much earlier.

 

To a question, the Interior Minister said the people of Pakistan will express solidarity with the Palestinian people on Friday. A gathering will also be held at Lal Haveli Rawalpindi keeping in view the Covid Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

UNGA to hold urgent meeting tomorrow to discuss grave situation in Gaza

ISLAMABAD: Upon the request of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the UN General Assembly will hold an urgent meeting tomorrow (Thursday) to discuss the grave situation in Gaza.

 

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will lead Pakistani delegation in the meeting. He is on diplomatic mission to support Palestine under special instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
