COVID-19 claims one more patients, infects 225 others 

Karachi, November 07, 2021 (PPI-OT):As many as one more patient of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 7,596 and 225 new cases emerged when 13,653 tests were conducted. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Sunday. He added that one more patient of COVID-19 lost his life lifting the death toll to 7,596 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate.

Mr. Shah said that 13,653 samples were tested which detected 225 cases that constituted 1.6 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 6,510,470 tests have been conducted against which 470,941 cases were diagnosed, of them 95.8 percent or 451,327 patients have recovered, including 250 overnight. The CM said that currently 12,018 patients were under treatment, of them 11,799 were in home isolation, 20 at isolation centers and 199 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 196 patients was stated to be critical, including 13 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 225 new cases, 63 have been detected from Karachi, including 21 from South and Korangi each, 15 East, 3 Malir and Central each. Thatta has 30, Hyderabad 24, Naushero Feroze and Tando Muhammad Khan 20 each, Tharparkar 15, Jamshoro and Sanghar 10 each, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar and Sujawal 7 each, Larkana 6, Umerkot 5 and Sukkur 1. The chief minister urged people of the province to follow SOPs.

Closing Ceremony of the 3rd International PACES (Physical Agility and Combat Efficiency System) Competition held at Ayub Stadium, Lahore 

Lahore, November 07, 2021 (PPI-OT):Closing Ceremony of the 3rd International PACES (Physical Agility and Combat Efficiency System) Competition held at Ayub Stadium, Lahore today. Lieutenant General Muhammad Abdul Aziz, Commander Lahore Corps was Chief Guest at the occasion. The championship was specially significant due to the participation of 101 international military sportsmen from 6 countries including Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Sri Lanka, UAE and Uzbekistan, while Egypt, Indonesia, Japan and Myanmar also participated as observers. 9 teams of Pakistan Army took part in competition.

In International Teams Category, Sri Lanka secured gold medal while UAE and Uzbekistan jointly won Silver medal. While bronze medal was shared by Palestine, Jordan and Iraq.

In Domestic Teams Category, Defending Champions, Engineers Regimental Centre Team won the Gold Medal. While Silver medal was won by Multan Corps and Bronze Medal by Baloch Regimental Centre Team.

In Individual Category, Warrant Officer Mubarek from UAE and Sapper Ahmed Raza from Engineers Centre secured Gold Medals in 3.2 kms race.

In Pull Ups event, Gold Medal has been secured by Corporal Dissanayake from Sri Lanka and Sapper Amjad from Engineers Centre with 967 Pull Ups setting a new PACES Championship record.

In Sit Ups, Gold Medals were secured by Corporal Dissanayake from Sri Lanka and Sapper Shahzad from Engineers Centre.

In Push Ups, Gold Medals were secured by Corporal Obesiri from Srilanka and Sapper Irfan of Engineers Center.

In Combat Efficiency Test, Gold medals were secured by Corporal Raja Karuna from Sri Lanka and Naik Ijaz from Multan Corps.

In Fittest of the Fittest category, Corporal Dissanayaka from Sri Lanka and Sapper Amjad from Engineers Centre received gold medals.

The Chief Guest awarded prizes to winning teams and individuals and congratulated them for excellent display of physical fitness, endurance and sportsmanship. He lauded the performance of Pakistan Army Teams and complimented them for the highest standards of physical fitness displayed by them.

Chief Guest specially appreciated the performance of international teams and thanked them for their enthusiastic and vigorous participation. Successful completion of 3rd international PACES Championship at Lahore reflects positively on Pakistan’s image as a peaceful nation which is completely safe and secure for conduct of International sports events. Portal to register families under Ehsaas Rashan to open from 8th Nov: Dr Sania 

Islamabad, November 07, 2021 (PPI-OT):The web portal to register beneficiaries under Ehsaas Rashan program will open from tomorrow [Monday]. This was stated by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Dr. Sania Nishtar in an interview with APP today. She said the program will enable buyers having monthly income less than 31,000 rupees, to buy flour, pulses and cooking oil or ghee on subsidized rates from the designated Kiryana or utility stores.

PTI only political party which represents all parts of country: FM Qureshi 

Islamabad, November 07, 2021 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi says the desire of PDM about sacking government will not prove fruitful as PTI is the only political party which represents federation and has roots in all parts of the country. Addressing inauguration ceremonies of development schemes in Multan today [Sunday], he said the opposition has no ideology or agenda and the government has no fear of their long or short march.

He said the PTI government will complete its tenure and people sitting outside the parliament would have to wait till next general elections. He said the PTI will also form next government. Shah Mehmood Qureshi said PTI government inherited week economy and the country was facing huge debt when the party came to power.

He said the country is still facing number of challenges, including inflation. He said the hike in prices is global issue and entire world is facing it. The Foreign Minister said the government will take all measure to decrease the prices of essential items.

OIC reiterates continued support to the Kashmiris in their struggle for right to self-determination

Islamabad, November 07, 2021 (PPI-OT):Organization of Islamic Cooperation has reiterated its continued support the Kashmiris in their struggle for right to self-determination. The assurance was given by the OIC’s Special envoy on Jammu and Kashmir Yousef Aldobeay while talking to representatives of All Parties Hurriyat Conference in Islamabad today [Sunday].

He said the Kashmir issue is similar to the Palestine issue as human rights of people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine are being violated and they are facing the threat of demographic changes. The envoy said the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has longstanding support for the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.

He said the foreign ministers’ of OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir extended the support to Kashmiris in a joint communique during a meeting on the side-lines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York in September this year. The OIC envoy said after his visit to Azad Jammu and Kashmir, he would prepare and present a report during the next ministerial meeting of the OIC, on the situation in the region. Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Faiz Nakshbandi, Sheikh Abdul Mateen and Altaf Wani were part of the APHC delegation which met the OIC special envoy.

T20 World Cup: Pakistan defeat Scotland with 72 runs

Islamabad, November 07, 2021 (PPI-OT):In the ICC T-20 World Cup Pakistan defeated Scotland by 72 runs at Sharjah tonight.

Batting first, Pakistan scored 189 for the loss of 4 wickets in twenty overs.

In reply, Scotland just scored 117 for the loss of six wickets in twenty overs.

Pakistan, England, New Zealand and Australia have qualified for the Semi-Finals of the ICC T-20 World Cup.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 reaches its business end with the start of the knockouts on 10 November.

There are just four matches – the last Super 12 outing three knockout out fixtures – to go before the winner of this edition of the World Cup is crowned.

ECP starts door-to-door voters’ verification across the country 

Islamabad, November 07, 2021 (PPI-OT):Election Commission of Pakistan started door-to-door voters’ verification and authentication campaign across the country from today [Sunday]. The first phase of the verification campaign would continue till 6th of next month while the second phase of electoral rolls’ verification would commence from January 26 next year.

All provincial election commissioners have been assigned the task to oversee all stages of the revision of electoral rolls in their respective provinces. The preliminary draft of the electoral rolls would be displayed in designated display centers for public review.

The public can also register their complaints for corrections in the list, transfer of their votes to a permanent or temporary address written in their Computerized National Identity Cards. The voters can add their names to the list and remove the names of deceased voters. The Election Commission has asked voters to check their registration status on voters’ lists by sending SMS with their Computerized National Identity Card number to its service 8300.
