Cop kills wife, daughter, driver in Lower Dir

Lower Dir: An irate cop shot dead his wife, daughter, driver in Lower Dir, police said Saturday.

A policeman opened indiscriminate firing at his own family members’ car in the area of Lower Dir in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing his wife, daughter and driver on the spot. The accused managed to run away from the crime scene.

Khal police reached the spot-on information and shifted the bodies to a hospital for medico-legal formalities. The motive behind the incident has not been ascertained yet as to why the policeman killed his own wife, daughter and his driver. The police have registered the case and started probe into the incident. A mourning atmosphere prevailed in the victims’ native area.

President summons NA session on May 9

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has summoned a session of the National Assembly on May 9.

The session was summoned under Article 54 of the Constitution and on the recommendation of the prime minister, the President House Media Wing said in a statement. The session would be held on Monday at 4:30 pm.

Father, son gunned down in Quetta

QUETTA: A man and his son were gunned down and another son was injured after unidentified armed men opened fire on them near FC hospital area of Almo Chowk in the provincial capital on Saturday.

According to police, unidentified armed men shot dead Ghulam Haider Rind and his son Ghulam Ali and injured another son Muhammad Raza near FC hospital, Almo Chowk area of Quetta. The bodies and injured were rushed to Sandeman Provincial Hospital Quetta and later handed over to the heirs after fulfilling necessary medico-legal formalities.

According to police, an old tribal enmity was the motive behind the incident. Police have lodged First Information Report of the incident. Further investigation was underway, said the police.
