500 modern electric buses and double-decker buses will soon be seen running on Karachi’s roads: Sharjeel Inam Memon

The Sindh government has declared the development of Karachi as a top priority and has allocated a substantial amount of over 100 billion rupees in the 2026-27 budget, senior provincial minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated today.

This funding is allocated for improving basic services, including water supply, sewage systems, and road infrastructure. Memon emphasized the government’s commitment to delivering practical services, rather than mere political rhetoric.

Emphasizing the need for modern and safe transportation, Memon announced the introduction of 500 electric and double-decker buses on the city’s roads as part of a broader effort to meet the travel needs of citizens.

The Sindh government also intends to create new employment opportunities through industrial zones and infrastructure projects, especially for the youth. Memon termed it a crucial component of the government’s economic strategy.

Efforts to improve the quality of life, focusing on employment, education, and health, are a central part of the Sindh government’s agenda. Memon condemned political elements attempting to tarnish Karachi’s image, stating that visible development projects and public welfare initiatives demonstrate the government’s commitment.

The 2026-27 budget is presented not just as financial planning but as a blueprint for a brighter, more prosperous future for Sindh, Memon concluded.
