RATODERO: A complete shutter down strike was observed by the shopkeepers of Resham Gali in Ratodero on Tuesday to protest against the killing of shopkeeper Rizwan Soomro during the robbery.
The residents took out a rally against the crimes in the town and its adjoining areas. They also held a protest demonstration against the lawlessness, demanding justice and foolproof security. They also demanded arrest of the accused involved in the killing of the shopkeeper.
Speaking on the occasion, shopkeepers Sandeep Kumar, Saindad Joyo, Babu Dayo, and Khalid Joyo said that 400 shops were in Resham Gali but not a single cop had been posted for their security, and if a policeman was posted, then he came one day and then disappeared for which several complaints were made to the SHO and DSP but their cries had been constantly ignored.
They said Rizwan Soomro was an innocent shopkeeper who was earning livelihood for his poor family, so Ratodero police should immediately arrest. Residents of Ratodero also came out on roads against increased incidents of lawlessness separately. They included Syed Shahid Hussain, Ghulam Shabir Soomro, Qayoom Mahesar and others. They held a protest demonstration in front of the local press club. demanding peace and tranquility.
They said robberies, snatchings and dacoities had become the order of the day but the cops were mum. Ghulam Shabir Soomro, brother of the deceased shopkeeper, said that if the accused of his brother were not brought to justice within three days, he would commit self-immolation. They urged the higher Sindh government authorities to take notice of the tragic issue and provide tight security to the traders and the residents.
