The Sindh Irrigation Department has announced a 15-day suspension of water supply to all canals from the Indus River to facilitate their annual cleaning and maintenance. The supply will remain halted from December 25, 2024, to January 10, 2025, impacting canals including Akram Wah.
According to a statement issued by the Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation’s media cell, the corporation will rely on its limited reserves to ensure water supply to consumers. However, the supply during this period is expected to be slightly reduced due to limited resources.
The corporation has urged residents to store water as per their needs and avoid unnecessary usage to prevent inconvenience during the maintenance period. Citizens are also advised to conserve water and use it sparingly to mitigate the effects of the temporary supply disruption.
The irrigation department emphasized that these measures are part of routine maintenance to ensure efficient water flow and sustainability in the long term.
