Deputy Commissioner Jamshoro Ghazanfar Qadri today chaired a high-level meeting at Darbar Hall in Jamshoro to finalize arrangements for the 773rd Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, scheduled to be held from February 18 to 20, 2025.
The meeting was attended by SSP Jamshoro Muhammad Zafar Siddiq Chhanga, Chief Administrator Auqaf Irshad Ali Samo, Director Culture Sher Muhammad Mehar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Nooruddin Hingoro, Director Syed Abdullah Shah Institute of Medical Sciences Dr Moinuddin Siddiqui, District Information Officer Alamgir Ranjhani, and other officers from Rangers, Police, Special Branch, Culture, NHA, Irrigation, Sports, HESCO, and Local Government Departments.
DC Qadri directed the officials to ensure the provision of all basic amenities to the devotees during the Urs. He highlighted that millions of devotees are expected to attend the Urs, making it imperative to have robust arrangements in place. Departments were instructed to submit their contingency plans to the DC Office.
SSP Jamshoro assured that comprehensive security measures would be implemented, including the deployment of 4,920 police personnel, installation of CCTV cameras, walkthrough gates, and a central control room. Rangers and plainclothes officers will also be deployed for security.
A committee, led by the DC, was formed to oversee the arrangements, including traffic management, medical camps, and emergency services. The Health Department was instructed to set up 56 medical camps and ensure the availability of ambulances. HESCO was directed to provide uninterrupted electricity, while the Public Health Engineering Department was tasked with ensuring the supply of clean drinking water.
The DC also emphasized the importance of sanitation and fire brigade services, instructing the Local Government Department to submit a report on all functional fire brigades within a week. Rescue 1122 and Sindh Solid Waste Management services will also be engaged during the Urs. In his concluding remarks, DC Qadri stressed the need for a coordinated effort to ensure a successful and safe event for all attendees.
