The defending champions, Zone Six, have once again proven their mettle by securing the PCB InterDistrict Under19 One Day Cricket Tournament (Karachi Region) title for the second consecutive year. They triumphed over Zone Five with an emphatic 225run victory in their final group match on 29 May.
Zone Six’s victory was powered by an outstanding performance from Huzaifa Ahsan, who notched up an impressive 194 runs for the second time in a row. His innings included 25 fours and 5 sixes. Sahil Nisar also contributed significantly with a century of 101 runs. The team posted a challenging total of 333 runs for 9 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. In response, Zone Five faltered, managing only 108 runs. Medium pacer Hazik Qureshi’s 5wicket haul for 34 runs was a notable effort for Zone Five.
Meanwhile, in another match at Agha Khan Gymkhana Ground, Zone One defeated Zone Two by 4 wickets. Abdullah Waheed’s 79 runs set a competitive target of 270 for Zone One, which they successfully chased down. Sahil Nisar’s 101run knock and Afnan Shah Nawaz’s 79 runs were instrumental in the victory.
At Landhi Gymkhana Ground, Zone Four secured a win against Zone Three by 7 wickets. Zone Three’s innings collapsed at 80 runs, with Huzaifa bin Sajid taking an exceptional 6 wickets for just 6 runs. Zone Four comfortably chased down the target with Musa Azad scoring 36 runs.
Zone Six’s backtoback title win underscores their dominance in the tournament, while Zone Seven once again finished as the runnerup.
