Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team Gears Up for World Cup

Pakistan women cricketers are diligently preparing for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. The squad is focusing on refining their skills and improving their physical conditioning during the offseason. Their next international engagement is a threematch T20I series against Ireland in Dublin from August 6th to 10th. The World Cup, hosted entirely in Sri Lanka, will run from September 30th to November 2nd.

Experienced players Aliya Riaz, Nashra Sundhu, and Sadia Iqbal, mainstays of the Pakistan T20I and ODI squads, are central to the training efforts. Allrounder Riaz emphasized the team’s dedication to performing responsibly and meeting fan expectations. “We are working to fulfill the team”s needs while keeping our supporters in mind,” she stated during a training session. “We aim to represent Pakistan in the best way possible.”

Sundhu, a leftarm spinner, noted the motivational impact of Sadia Iqbal’s recent ascent to the top of the T20I bowler rankings. “It’s a source of pride for us to see a teammate reach such a height,” Sundhu commented. “It energizes the entire group, knowing we have bowlers capable of being the world’s best.”

Sadia herself has been concentrating on honing her abilities, particularly the challenges of bowling with the new ball under pressure. “I strive to stay calm in tense situations,” she explained. She credited coach Abdur Rehman and training with male players for her continued improvement. With this concentrated offseason work, the Pakistan women”s team aims for strong performances leading into and during the World Cup.
