The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to launch a nationwide talent hunt for the next generation of women cricketers. The trials, aimed at identifying promising U19 and Emerging players, will commence on August 21st and span eight cities across Pakistan. The two-week program will scout players for upcoming U19 and Emerging squads.
Players born on or after September 1, 2006, are eligible for the U19 trials, with the minimum age set at 12. There are no age restrictions for Emerging players. The chosen U19 cricketers will participate in a four-team tournament scheduled for September and October. This competition will serve as a platform for selecting the Pakistan U19 squad for a tour of Bangladesh later this year.
The selection process begins at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre in Karachi on August 21st, moving to Lahore”s LCCA Ground on August 25th. Rawalpindi and Peshawar will host trials on August 26th and 27th, respectively. Simultaneous trials will occur in Mardan and Quetta on August 28th. Multan and Bahawalpur will conclude the talent hunt on September 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
Former Pakistan women’s cricketer Batool Fatima and ex-Test cricketer Asad Shafiq, members of the national women’s selection committee, will oversee the trials, assisted by regional coaches. Aspiring participants must provide a B-form, CNIC, or NADRA-issued birth certificate for age verification.
