Jhang faces a critical flood threat as an immense 900,000 cusecs of water surges through the Chenab River.
Speaking to the press in Lahore, Punjab’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General, Irfan Ali Kathia, warned of a perilous scenario developing at Head Islam within hours. He explained that the flow at Head Sulaimanki has already surpassed 100,000 cusecs.
The Ravi River has also witnessed a substantial 220,000 cusec discharge. Head Balloki recorded 211,000 cusecs, augmented by an additional 20,000 cusecs from Nankana Sahib.
Kathia cautioned that the combined flow would reach 700,000 cusecs at Head Muhammadwala near Multan. He indicated that controlled breaches might be required to alleviate the immense water pressure at this location.
