Crackdown against drug trafficking in Punjab, 137 people arrested, 136 cases registered, drugs recovered

During a large-scale crackdown against drug smuggling, Punjab Police arrested 137 individuals, registered 136 cases, and recovered a large quantity of drugs. This initiative is part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Safe Punjab” vision, which aims to strengthen security and enforce the rule of law in the province.

In an effort to maintain law and order, law enforcement agencies conducted 360 search operations, interrogated 10,907 individuals, and took 35 suspects into custody. The campaign also targeted electricity theft, resulting in the arrest of 20 individuals and the registration of 55 cases for allegedly causing losses to the national exchequer.

Authorities are also taking action against the dangerous practice of kite flying, arresting 12 individuals, registering 12 cases, and confiscating 73 kites. Traffic law violations were also a focus, with 39,694 traffic violations recorded, resulting in fines of 28 million rupees and the impounding of 120 smoke-emitting vehicles.

As part of efforts to improve road safety, 29,777 driving licenses were also issued. Furthermore, 13,510 individuals availed various services under one roof at police service centers, reflecting the administration’s commitment to enhancing public convenience.
