Key decisions impacting legislation, human rights, women’s inclusion, and the economy are contingent upon a major global parliamentary conference being held in Barbados, in which a high-level delegation from the Sindh Assembly is participating.

The provincial delegation, led by Speaker Syed Owais Qadir Shah, is attending the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) conference, which is underway at the Wyndham Grand Barbados and includes representatives from over 150 countries.

Speaker Shah described the gathering as a significant global platform for democratic dialogue and parliamentary diplomacy. He emphasized that the outcomes of this summit will have far-reaching effects on environmental policy, education, and economic structures.

The delegation includes Assembly members Sadia Javed, Tanzila Umme Habiba, Arbab Lutfullah, Samita Afzal Syed, and Adil Altaf. Administrative officers, including Secretary Sindh Assembly G.M. Umar Farooq, DG Media Irfan Ahmed Memon, and Huma Ikramullah are also accompanying the assembly members.

At the opening ceremony of this prestigious event, key addresses were delivered by Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, Senator Reginald R. Farley, and President Dame Sandra Mason.

Discussions during the assembly are centered on improving legislative processes and enhancing the training of parliamentary staff. The Speaker stated that this conference provides an important opportunity to advance parliamentary diplomacy.

Participants reiterated their collective commitment to better governance, transparency, and effective public representation.

According to the Speaker’s spokesperson, the active role of the Sindh Assembly in the global parliamentary forum is prominent. Speaker Shah will participate in various meetings and events during the international summit.
